Italian Red Wine will satisfy all your drinking desires!

The country of Italy is home to some of the most exotic wines found all across the globe. The fact that the country has taken over France as the largest wine producer of the world, places Italian wines on top of every drinker’s desire list. In fact, when it comes to per capita liquor consumption, Italy ranks fifth, with 42 litres per capita consumption.

Italian red wine, amongst all, is something that is on the menu of the most exotic restaurants in any part of the world. Although there are so many options to choose from, but the most prominent ones known for their piquant tastes, are discussed below –

  1. Chianti – produced in the town of Tuscany, Italians have been making this wine for centuries. Although in the past, the wine was associated with a dumpy bottle covered in a straw basket, called by the natives as ‘Fiasco’. However, not many a wine manufacturers in the country market Chianti in this type of packaging now. Baron Bettino Ricasoli is credited with the inception of Chianti wine. The drink is a mixture of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Malvasia Bianca, and 15% Canailo. Present day Chianti bottles come with a logo of a black rooster of the neck, which symbolizes the foundation of producers in Chianti Classico region, known as the Consorzio Chianti Classico.
  2. Lambrusco – it is another prominent grape wine that comes from the land of Italy. Four major regions that are known to produce this drink are
    • Emilia – Romagna
    • Lombardy
    • Central Province of Modena
    • Parma
    • Reggio nell’Emilia
    • Mantua
    Both white and red wines produced in the region are rated highly amongst the wine lovers, especially the red ones.   3. Barbaresco – produced in the Piedmont region of the Langhe, the wine is made from Nebbiolo Grape. Apart from Piedmont, the major regions producing this drink are communes of Barabresco, Tries, and Neive, along with frazione San Rocco Senodelvio. People usually associate the taste of these wines with the Barolo, produced in the Piedmont area but it is distinct in taste with a slight stronger essence.

Apart from these 3, there are a number of other options for drinkers who are in love with these drinks, such as Amarone, Barbara, Brunello Di Montalcino and Valpolicella, to name a few.
